OceanDisc · Software engineering since 2013

Reliable software engineering for mission-critical platforms

OceanDisc has built and operated software for federal agencies and international institutions since 2013, engineered to Section 508 accessibility standards from the start. Much of it is still in production, serving programs in more than twenty countries.

How we work

Built to keep pace with a fast-moving field

Software engineering is not a fixed target. Frameworks turn over, platforms deprecate, and AI is shifting how software gets developed and how quickly. OceanDisc is built to move with it.

That starts with senior engineers who have shipped production systems for thirteen years and stay hands-on with current technology. Experience tells us which changes actually matter. Staying close to the work lets us act on them, which means adopting a tool once it proves itself under real load and passing on the ones that only impress in a demo.

Because the people who plan the work are the people who do it, decisions land quickly and direction can change between releases. We operate what we build and keep it current as the ground shifts. That is why the work here is measured in years rather than delivery windows.

Capabilities

The work we take on

01

Custom platforms

Systems of record, casework, grants, monitoring. We design around the workflow a program actually runs, build it, and keep building as the mission changes. Our longest-running build has been in continuous development since 2013.

02

Operations

We run what we build: hosting, releases, security, support. Programs change staff, funders, and priorities. The systems we operate stay up through all of it.

03

Product engineering

We build commercial software too. MetricsLed DEPLOY and MetricsLed PROJECT, two platforms we engineer with MetricsLed, have been in continuous development since 2013 and 2019.

04

Applied AI

We put AI into working systems where it holds up: document processing, analysis, decision support. Where it won't hold up, we say so before you pay for it.

The record

Thirteen years, four continents

Our first contracts were federal: modernizing the recreation database behind Recreation.gov, full lifecycle development for the Department of Defense's lessons-learned system of record, acquisition systems at Health & Human Services. Since 2015 we've worked with the UK delivery firm MetricsLed, building and operating the platforms behind its programs, work that now spans more than twenty countries. Two of those platforms sell today as commercial products. Much of what we've built is still running.
