How we work

Built to keep pace with a fast-moving field

Software engineering is not a fixed target. Frameworks turn over, platforms deprecate, and AI is shifting how software gets developed and how quickly. OceanDisc is built to move with it.

That starts with senior engineers who have shipped production systems for thirteen years and stay hands-on with current technology. Experience tells us which changes actually matter. Staying close to the work lets us act on them, which means adopting a tool once it proves itself under real load and passing on the ones that only impress in a demo.

We also operate what we build for as long as the program runs. Our longest engagement, MetricsLed DEPLOY, has been in continuous development since 2013.

The work we take on

Custom platforms

We design and build systems of record, casework and grants systems, and monitoring platforms around the workflow a program actually runs. Then we keep developing them as the mission changes.

Operations

We run what we build, which covers hosting, releases, security, and support, and we keep running it when a program changes staff or funders.

Product engineering

We build commercial software too. MetricsLed DEPLOY and MetricsLed PROJECT, two platforms we engineer with MetricsLed, have been in continuous development since 2013 and 2019.

Applied AI

We build AI into production systems for document processing, analysis, and decision support. We test it against the real workflow first and tell you when it doesn't hold up.

Thirteen years, four continents

Our first contracts were federal: modernizing the recreation database behind Recreation.gov, full lifecycle development for the Department of Defense's lessons-learned system of record, acquisition systems at Health & Human Services. Since 2013 we've worked with the UK delivery firm MetricsLed, building and operating the platforms behind its programs, work that now spans more than twenty countries. Two of those platforms sell today as commercial products. Much of what we've built is still running.
